The logo uses a simple plus and minus pictorial technique. BIBLIOTECA PÚBLICA de Macau is the official Portuguese name of the Macao Public Library, which stands for BIBLIOTECA, BOOK, and PÚBLICA de Macau. The image is also the side of a stack of books, the most powerful representation of the library – books. A serif (Sans-serif B) forms the lower back cover of the side panel, which is also a B. It is also a serif.

該標誌使用簡潔的正負圖形手法。標誌正形為 B 字，代表 BIBLIOTECA、BOOK。標誌負形為 Ｐ 字，代表PÚBLICA、PUBLIC。BIBLIOTECA PÚBLICA de Macau即為澳門公共圖書館的官方葡文名稱。
此圖形同時為書本堆疊的側面，圖書館最有力代表—書本。並以有腳字（Sans-serif） B 的襯腳（Serif）構成書的側面上下封底，同時亦是 B 字。
